About the Project

The New Jersey Route 7 over the Hackensack River (Wittpann) Bridge replacement is a 9,500-ft long mid-level bridge that features a 324-ft long by 100-ft vertical lift main span with east and west approach spans along the Route 7 Mainline, size curved ramps, approach raodway and retaining walls. The superstructure of the lift span will be supported on each side (east and west) by a 150-ft long, 34-ft wide, 15-ft high reinforced concrete footing. Each pier is protected by a fender system that is designed to sustain and impact load of 9,500 kips. Each of the fender systems flanking the 159-ft wide navigation channel consistes of 17 8-ft diameter drilled shafts caped by 320-ft long, 11-ft wide, 15-ft high reinforced concrete cap.
