Speakers

Mukesh Parikh:

Mukesh M. Parikh joined DeSimone in 1999 and is currently a Managing Principal in the firm’s New York office. Mr. Parikh has over 20 years of experience and specializes in the design of high-rise concrete and steel structures. In Manhattan, his most recent experience includes 220 Central Park South, a 950-foot condominium tower; 50 West, a 780-foot residential tower in the city’s Financial District; 170 Amsterdam, a 350,000sf, 22-story building that incorporates a concrete exoskeleton as part of the building envelope; and The Hub, one of the tallest completed structures in Brooklyn, New York. For 99 Hudson, the tallest completed building in New Jersey, Mr. Parikh served as Principal-in-Charge over structural design.

Hongbo (Melissa) Wang:

Based in New York City, Hongbo (Melissa) Wang serves as an Associate of the firm’s Structural Design Practice where her work primarily includes management and design of high-rise residential and mixed-use developments. Her portfolio includes 220 Central Park South, a new 950-foot condominium tower in New York City; Jersey City’s  99 Hudson, a 915-foot residential tower spanning 1.4 million square feet; Millennium Tower Boston, a new 60-story, 1,048,382 square foot residential tower in Massachusetts; and Gotham West, a new 30-story 1,033,000 square foot residential complex in New York City.

About the Project

Located near the southern tip of Jersey City, 99 Hudson towers 900-feet-above the Hudson River and is officially the tallest completed structure in the State of New Jersey. Designed by Perkins Eastman and DeSimone Consulting Engineers, the entire development comprises 1.4 million square feet and includes 781 high-end condominiums, 16,000 square feet of commercial area, a 600-vehicle parking garage, approximately 65,000 square feet of resort-class amenities, and 15,000 square feet of outdoor public area.

At 80 stories, the grand scale of the building and its proximity to the Hudson River introduced a unique set of structural challenges to resist wind and seismic forces, and to ensure the comfort of future occupants. The successful completion of 99 Hudson is, in part, the product of recent strides in the fields of building information modelling, wind and geotechnical engineering, and high-rise concrete design.
